Even in 2D mode this app gives you amazing versatility. You are no longer stuck with one or two color schemes. There are 12 changeable background colors and 7 different Square colors in both 2D and 3D mode giving you 168 possibilities. There is even a Color Cycle mode that will automatically dissolve one background color to another creating an amazing effect.
